Carmen is the story of a beautiful, bold, heartless Gypsy girl. She catches the eye of a young soldier, who pursues her relentlessly. Carmen and her cohorts organize a smuggling ring, much to the disdain of her soldier suitor. Already tired of her half-hearted lover, Carmen pursues a young bullfighter. Her soldier, overwrought with jealousy, confronts Carmen in the town square to make one last plea for her love. As she denies his advances, he seizes her and stabs her as the village people appear outside of the victorious bullfight in the arena.
