On Sunday April 6th at 3PM Temple B'nai Shalom in conjunction with the ISJL and sponsored by the Goldsmith Schiffman Fund, will be presenting a screening and discussion of the acclaimed documentary " God In A Box". Filmmaker Nathan Lang who wrote and directed this documentary will be at the Temple to present "God In a Box" (godinthebox.com).
This documentary explores the diverse ways we see God in our mind's-eye, through the lens of their amazing Box. The movie explores the way we look at all religions not just Judaism. It also delves into why atheists and agnostics feel the way they do.
The filmmakers embark on a cross-country journey with their Box. They invite people to step inside and share what they see in their minds eye and if possible draw what God looks like to them. Along their journey, the filmmakers set up the Box along iconic street corners and diverse locations across America.
"God In A Box" has won awards for its originality and content. It has been heralded as a "moving glimpse into what happens when people are invited to share their thoughts about God."
It has been screened as an Official Selection at the Heartland Film Festival, The Arclight Documentary Film Festival, San Diego Christian Film Festival, The Carmel Art and Film Festival and the John Paul II International Film Festival. It has also been screened at many synagogues throughout the country including Temple Shalom, Naples Florida and Temple Beth-EL in San Antonio Texas.
