The Alabama Cooperative Extension System at Alabama A&M University will host its 12th Successful Aging Initiative in Madison County on Thursday, October 17, 2013, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 315 Winchester Road in Huntsville.
This one-day conference, open to the public, is designed to address issues impacting Alabama’s older adults. Presenters will provide easy-to-understand information and resources designed to help older adults make informed decisions, maintain independence, play active roles in society, and improve quality-of-life for themselves and their families. The conference is meant to serve older adults and family members, caregivers, and individuals who serve seniors.
Featured guest speakers include Decatur, Georgia Attorney Derrick Pope, author of Thy Will be Done: An African-American Guide to Estate Planning and renowned topiary horticulturist, Pearl Fryar of Bishopville, South Carolina.
Lunch is to be provided, along with health screening services. Door prizes and other giveaways are to be featured.
