The evening of November 2 we will have our 2013 Sesquicentennial event. The past two years this has been a formal sit-down dinner with speaker, but this year we’re taking a different approach. It will be an evening social – our Sesqui Social. It will be held Saturday evening, November 2, 5:00-8:30pm, at The Ledges in Huntsville, Alabama. It is open to the public, young and old alike! There is no entry fee, so no need to spend any money if you would like to come just for the music and camaraderie.
We will have a la carte food and drink, free period music performed by the Huntsville Traditional Music Association players (coordinated by Round Table member and violinist Dan Charles), informal dancing, guests in period dress, and conversation galore. If you wish to eat, just select a beverage or smaller dish from our special menu while you listen, or order dinner at any time during the evening. We are welcome to linger after the musicians end at 8:30, if guests would like to continue ordering.
The Ledges management is graciously providing their lovely ballroom for our Social. Please do reserve now at 256-883-0860, even if you don’t expect to eat, so seating will be available. Full tables for 8 are still open, so why not gather a group and make it a real period party? It is a good excuse to pull out that long skirt and cameo (Ladies) or the old field cap and brogans (Gentlemen) from any period, and enjoy a pleasant evening with a great view of the surrounding area from atop Huntsville Mountain. Of course, nice casual attire or even something dressier is also welcome.
You can join us as we commemorate the third year of 150th anniversary (1863-2013) of the American Civil War. For general questions, 256-293-0075 or The Ledges at 256-883-0860, or www.theledges.com for directions and www.tvcwrt.com.
