Mr. Bishop will be speaking about the famed Tennessee Brigade. Organized in August 1861, it served with distinction throughout the Civil War in the Army of Northern Virginia. It was a player and fought in most of the major battles in the East, to include Antietam, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, Petersburg, and Appomattox.
Mr. Bishop is a history teacher at Middleton High School and an adjunct for Jackson State Community College. A six-time recipient of the Teacher of the Year Award, Randy was recognized in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers and serves as the president of his local elementary and high-school parent-teacher organization. He earned a bachelor of science in management marketing from Union University and a master of education from the University of Memphis. A member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, he is also involved with several preservation groups, including Civil War Preservation Trust, Tennessee Civil War Preservation Association, and Parker’s Crossroads Battlefield Association. He and his family live in Middleton, Tennessee.
