Mark C. Smith Concert Hall, VBC
Gregory Vajda, conductor
• Beethoven: Symphony No. 5, op. 67, C minor
• Prokofiev: Symphony No. 5, op. 100, B-flat major
Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 gives itself away with opening notes that are recognized the world over, and Prokofiev said that he intended his Fifth Symphony to be "a hymn to free and happy Man, to his mighty powers, his pure and noble spirit." A fitting and wonderful end to a rich season, full of personality!
