'Futureproofing' Alabama, Amid Increasing Automation

Thursday, June 1, 2017

Futureproof Bama is the creation of Taylor Phillips, chief technology officer of the software firm AutoGov. Computer programming is his stock in trade, and he's certainly taken note of the increasing sophistication of such programs. Phillips has become concerned about them, too, in a way. He envisions a not-very-distant future where ever-greater employment of software and robotics will bring about major changes, as machines more greatly displace people in the workforce. That's why he started Futureproof Bama, a non-profit organization which seeks to "educate, innovate, and keep Alabama working." Phillips spoke with WLRH host Shane Scott.
