Testing Goes High-Speed at UAH

Sunday, December 6, 2015

A project is underway at the University of Alabama in Huntsville to build a wind-tunnel, capable of generating air speeds of more than 2,000 miles-per-hour. Researchers will use the new apparatus to reproduce the stresses associated with rocket launches and other extreme-condition scenarios. Engineering Professor Doctor Phil Ligrani manages the project. He tells WLRH host Shane Scott the wind tunnel will benefit the local aerospace industry, while helping to set UAH apart from other schools. Researchers hope to be using the high-speed equipment before the end of the year (later this month).
