SUBMITTING A Public Service Announcement to WLRH

WLRH accepts Public Service Announcements from state-registered, not-for-profit corporations in a standard format for on-air-delivery. Please read our complete policy before submitting PSAs.

Copy
The most effective announcements are always simple and to the point:
• Event description
• Date
• Location
• Phone or contact number for information.
** WLRH reserves the right to edit all copy for on-air broadcast.

Sending Copy
Please mail your event announcement at least two weeks in advance:

Checklist
Please follow the example layout and double-check every detail on the checklist below. PSA's received out of format are edited as time allows, often delaying the first air date for the PSA.

Sentence Format
Write only in complete sentences, using upper case letters, and always double-space the copy in a 14-point font (or larger) for clear, professional delivery by announcers (see sample).

On Air Time
All copy must be about 15 to 20 seconds long in length. Due to time limitations, most copy that reads longer than 15 seconds may rarely be read on the air.

Date
Provide a start date and an end date for the PSA on the top left hand corner of the page.

Closing
End your copy with: "for more information (222) 333-4545 " Or, "the number for tickets is..." or 'on the web at" (A phone number or active website is required.)

Noncommercial
Do not use call-to-action verb phrases (example: do not use the word "call..," or phrases such as, "join us for...," "come celebrate...," "visit...," or "you're invited to..."). Please help us maintain our distinctive, noncommercial delivery, valued by our listeners.

What you say
WLRH will not air PSA's with comparative language 'the finest or the 'best."

Event Costs
If the event is free, please be clear and mention it. If it is not free, do not list admission prices. If the event is a benefit or involves donations, just describe the event -- do not refer to donations, auctions, or benefits, etc.

Arts & Cultural Events
For community arts activities always include the highlights of your program, i.e., composers. Artists, writers or works. Our listeners are well-informed, so attract them with your intriguing program--not with commercial radio language.

WLRH randomly selects PSAs and rotates all announcements. There is no guarantee when PSAs will read on the air.
