John Hightower
Brass, Reeds and Percussion host
(256) 895-9574 Ext.
Born in Natchez, Mississippi, in 1951, I moved to Huntsville in 1975, where I worked for a communications training firm. In 1997, I began working for the Lanier Ford law firm as a librarian. I also do marketing, training, and professional recruiting for the firm. From 7th grade to 12th grade, I was involved in band. This explains my fascination with band music.
I graduated from Mississippi State University with a degree in communications and from the University of Mississippi Law School with a law degree. While attending college, I worked in professional radio. In Starkville, I worked for WSSO and WSMU-FM (sister stations). While attending college in Oxford, I worked for WSUH and WOOR-FM (sister stations). I eventually became program director at both sets of stations. Radio was always a lot of fun for me, and I can’t believe how lucky I am to be working in radio again.
I also appreciate that I have big shoes to fill in following Darryl Adams as host of Brass, Reeds, and Percussion. But I look forward to continuing a Huntsville tradition at 12 noon every Saturday on WLRH.
Thank you Darryl Adams for the many wonderful years you dedicated to WLRH.You are missed!
