On August 26 in VBC Concert Hall, the Alabama Humanities Alliance will honor Brittany Howard and Jason Isbell as Alabama Humanities Fellows – the highest humanities honor in the state – for how they embody the best of the humanities in their songwriting and storytelling. This event will feature a moderated conversation with Howard and Isbell. Another legendary north Alabama musician, Patterson Hood, will present Howard and Isbell with their awards. NPR music critic Ann Powers will moderate the evening’s conversation. Phillip Jordan, Communications Director of the Alabama Humanities Alliance, spoke with Ginny Kennedy about the event and the role the organization plays in the state. We also enjoyed a few tunes from the Grammy-winning artists. Tickets are available at https://www.vonbrauncenter.com/event/brittany-howard-%26-jason-isbell%3a-in-conversation/7258/
