The Greene Street Market at Nativity opens for its 15th season beginning May 1. It will take place every Thursday afternoon starting at 3 pm through the end of October. Mountain Valley Arts Council will host its Spring Concerts in the Park at Errol Allan Park in downtown Guntersville on Thursdays from 6:30 - 8:30 PM starting April 17th and running through May 22nd. There will be music from a variety of North Alabama Bands - JED Eye, Foster, Barefoot Blues, Common Thread, Emily Joseph Band, and Rally Stripe Band. After intermission local improvisers, stand-ups, and actors play in our Fishbowl style set. All the names go in a bowl, a hefty handful get drawn to play, and then we improvise scenes based on audience suggestions! The 2025 Madison Community Volunteer Fair is happening Saturday, May 10th from 10am to 2pm at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Madison. You can learn about many kinds of volunteer opportunities with local nonprofits and organizations. The fair is family friendly with fun service activities for kids. St. Thomas Presents an Encore Concert with award winning guitarist Parker Hastings on Saturday, May 10 at 5 pm. Parker, a member of the Nat'l Pickers Hall of Fame, performs in the spirit of "music to make you smile.” St. Thomas is located on Bailey Cove Rd in south Huntsville. All are welcome. The Allen Watkins Band Benefit Concert will take place on May 10, 2025, 6:30-8:30 pm at Huntsville Botanical Garden. The event is at Murray Hall at HSV Botanical Garden. The charity, Alabama Concerns of Police Survivors, is a non-profit organization that responds after the death of an officer to support surviving family members. The band is supporting this issue because of a close family friend who was widowed at 30 when her husband was killed responding to a crime.
The Music at Messiah Concert Series presents internationally acclaimed baritone Thomas Florio on Saturday, May 10th at 7 pm at Messiah Lutheran Church in Madison. This concert is open to the public and includes vocal works by Finzi, Chabrier, and the Vaughan Williams "Five Mystical Songs." More information at musicatmessiah.org.
