WLRH is Hiring: News Director & Morning Show Host
WLRH 89.3 FM, North Alabama’s public radio station, is seeking a News Director / Morning Show Host to lead our local news operation and anchor a new morning program. This hybrid role combines editorial leadership, on-air hosting, and digital-first innovation to deliver smart, relevant, and engaging content across broadcast, web, social media, and emerging platforms.
The ideal candidate is passionate about public service journalism, has a strong on-air presence, and can inspire a collaborative newsroom while connecting with the diverse communities of North Alabama. Responsibilities include leading local news coverage, hosting the morning show (5–9 AM), mentoring staff, expanding WLRH’s digital presence, and engaging with the community.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field (or equivalent experience), strong storytelling and on-air skills, newsroom management experience, and proficiency with digital/audio tools.
