This event features over 100 booths offering collections of retro music equipment, cassettes, CDs, VHS, video games, books, clothing, furniture, tchotchkes, and more. The market will also feature live music, DJs, and food trucks. This event is free to attend.
The Alabama Honey Festival is Sunday, October 6th from 1pm-5pm at Alabama A&M's Winfred Thomas Agricultural Research Station in Hazel Green. The theme of this year’s festival is “sustainable agriculture and honeybees”. This family friendly event is open to the public. You can enjoy demonstrations and tour the facility. The Moment in Time speaker series finale presents 'Cosmic Creations and Stories From Space' on October 8th from 6pm-8pm.
The public is invited to The Orion's Artist Dining Room for the final installation of our public speaker series in partnership with WLRH celebrating art, culture and self-expression. Hear from local artists and poets that find inspiration in the mysteries of the universe, and from leading scientists translating data from the unknown depths of space into dazzling images and audio experiences:🪐 Dr. Kimberly Arcand, Visualization Scientist & AstronomerDr. Kimberly Arcand is a leading expert in astronomy data visualization and an innovator in 3D imaging, printing, and extended reality applications with astrophysics data. She has worked for NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory at the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory since 1998. Her current research includes sonification of high-energy spatial data, machine learning as applied to image processing, and other intersections of emerging technology and astrophysics.
🎨 John “Jahni” Moore, Interdisciplinary ArtistJahni is a southern born interdisciplinary artist whose work examines life at the crossroads of ancestry and alchemy. He holds a B.S in Graphic Design, an M. Ed. in Art Education from Alabama A&M University, and M.F.A. from the School of The Art Institute of Chicago. Jahni has created numerous murals and public works from Chicago to Colombia, South America, where he twice served as Art Ambassador. His work, whether on canvas, paper, canvas, or walls honors the Lifeblood/Earth/Clay connection, striving to invoke a spirit of resurrection, remembrance, revival, and restoration.
🖋️ Jason Gaughan, PoetJason is a transplant to Alabama by way of New Jersey. He is a frequent participant in and occasional host of Out Loud Huntsville’s monthly open mics, and you can find his work in their most recent anthologies. When Jason is not reading or writing, he enjoys comedy shows, bar trivia, and playing trombone in the Madison Community Orchestra.

The Gem, Jewelry, and Mineral Show will be October 11 thru 13 at the Jaycee Community Center. You can explore a variety of original jewelry, gemstones, beads, minerals and fossils. You can join Merrimack Hall's Rocket City Microthon, family-friendly fundraising event , and a fun spoof of a traditional road race Saturday October 12th from 2 until 4pm. The ‘race’ is across the 383 feet (0.12K) of the Butler Green at Campus 805. You’ll get your own numbered bib (just like a real racer) and race from Straight to Ale to Yellowhammer Brewery, or vice versa, we're not all that organized.

The Art Society of Jackson County presents the 2nd annual Witches Ride around the downtown square in Scottsboro. You can dress as a witch, bring candy to throw to the kids, and walk or ride your bike or wheelchair around the square. The best witch wins prizes and bragging rights! The Witches Rides takes place October 12th at 2pm during the BBQ Festival.
No motorized vehicles in the Witches Ride, only bicycles, tricycles, wheelchairs, or you can walk.

The event, which takes place October 13, 2024 from 3 PM – 9 PM, will feature performances from 50 local musicians, including a dedicated Microwave Dave Music Education Foundation stage, which will play host to MDMEF music scholarship students. To celebrate the reopening of the historic space, the annual community event will feature food trucks and bars, music and educational vendors, and fireworks.
The first Microwave Dave Day was held on June 28, 2015, and featured a proclamation by Mayor Tommy Battle citing Microwave Dave Gallaher’s decades of community involvement and the longevity of his music career. While Microwave Dave Day is free to attend, donations are gratefully accepted, and support local music education program and student music scholarships.

Witches are returning to Madison at the third annual Madison Witches Stroll on Sunday, October 13 at 3 PM. This fun parade features festive local witches of all sorts strolling through downtown Madison spreading Halloween cheer to hundreds of children. You can stay for the Black Hat Block Party and Barks & Boos Pet Parade after the witches fly. Costumes are encouraged and spooky concessions will be available.
