Statement from WLRH on the Passage of the Rescission Bill
In response to the passage of the rescission bill, WLRH Public Radio reaffirms its commitment to serving the people of North Alabama with trusted news, diverse music, and meaningful community connection.
As Alabama’s first public radio station, WLRH has been part of the fabric of this region since 1976, when it was launched by the Huntsville-Madison County Public Library. From the very beginning, the station has existed to reflect the voices, values, and culture of the community it serves.
While the economic impact of the rescission may bring difficult decisions in the months ahead, WLRH will continue its mission to provide high-quality programming that informs, inspires, and connects North Alabama. Our listeners can count on us to deliver thoughtful, locally produced programs alongside trusted national content.
Public radio was built on community. WLRH’s strength comes from its deep connection to the people of Huntsville and the Tennessee Valley, and that relationship will remain at the heart of everything we do. With the continued support of our listeners, we will navigate these challenges together—and continue to be a vital part of life in North Alabama.
