Franco Cesarini is a Swiss composer born in 1961. His first exposure to music was at age 7 in a choir. Very soon thereafter, he began playing the piano by ear, but eventually became fascinated with the flute. He decided to try his hand at composing after being exposed to the music of Claude Debussy and Béla Bartók. At age 16, he enrolled in the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan. He is a prolific composer of music for wind band, but also conducts some of the outstanding wind orchestras in Switzerland, Italy, the Netherlands, and the United States.
