End Addiction HSV Walk

End Addiction HSV Walk
Not One More Alabama, a non-profit organization based in Huntsville, is hosting its 6th Annual End Addiction HSV Walk at Big Spring Park Saturday, August 12th from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. This free annual event is an opportunity to connect with others who have been impacted by the disease of addiction and lift the stigma associated with it. People from across the state gather every year to celebrate recovery, to inspire hope for those seeking recovery and the people who love them, and remember precious lives lost during this widespread overdose epidemic.
Representatives from treatment, recovery and support organizations will be on hand to provide information about various treatment options, support services and prevention measures. The End Addiction HSV Walk is an opportunity to learn about the variety of pathways to recovery. Clinicians and students from the UAB School of Medicine will provide training for the use of Naloxone (Narcan), a life-saving overdose reversal drug. Narcan medication will be available free while supplies last.
This year’s keynote speaker is David Battle, a standout on the football field at Johnson High School and Auburn University. When a knee injury ended his football career, Battle developed a substance use disorder that led to two sentences in prison. Battle fought his way back from the grips of addiction, earned four college degrees and currently works to help others find and maintain a life in recovery. His story is incredibly inspiring.
