The Huntsville Museum of Art Guild proudly presents its annual flagship fundraiser, UNFRAMED: Off to the Races. 2024’s Derby-themed event will be complete with the excitement of the Derby race on a large screen and live music for guests to enjoy. Both live and silent auctions will be filled with exceptionally curated items. In addition, the event will feature fun-filled activities including the ever-popular bourbon and wine pull and outdoor Bourbon Garden, featuring distinctive distillers.

On Saturday May 4th, the public is invited to wander a closed off Pratt Avenue in Huntsville's historic Five Points for PorchFest Five Points. More than three dozen artists and bands will perform on 10 different porches. Huntsville’s annual celebration of community, local original music, and good vibes.

Rocket City Roller Derby takes on Montgomery as part of a season of bouts with roller derby teams from around the Southeast. RCRD home bouts take place at the National Speleological Society Conference Center at 6001 Pulaski Pike NW Huntsville AL 35810. Junior bouts are early. Team bouts in the evening.

Our television friends at Alabama Public Television are hosting the APT Great BBQ Cook Off on Sunday, May 5th at Back Forty Brewing next to historic Sloss Furnaces in Birmingham, AL. Special guests include Sean of the South and Three On A String.
Gates open at noon. Lunch and music begin at 1pm. The BBQ Awards Ceremony begins at 3pm.

May is Older Americans Month and STUDIO 60 Senior Center will host our 25th Annual Retirement Lifestyle EXPO on Tuesday, May 7, from 10 to 2 at the Jaycee Community Building. The EXPO features products and services in nutrition, leisure, and healthcare for retirees and their families. Lunch for the first 300 participants. The public is invited to attend. The Huntsville Community Drumline presents 'Beating the Odds', a high energy, super charged evening as teams of percussionists take the stage to compete in our inaugural drum cadence challenge. This music festival will mark 20 years of cigar box guitar music in our community with events at 5 different locations. Original music, along with in Rock, Blues, and Jazz will be performed on handmade instruments. This family friendly weekend is open to the public and raises money for local music education.
